Who remembers being in college and trying to find the most inexpensive but nicest possible furniture to furnish your college apartment? I told my dad I needed a table for our living room the summer before my junior year at NC State. Good Will it was! I ended up finding this table for $25. It had crayon marks and dents all over the surface. This table has definitely been through a lot and has now been through 2 restorations! The first time was a quick sanding to try and get the crayon marks off and to smooth out the dents. Then a coat of stain to finish it up. That was the extent of that project. Fast forward 6 years and wanted to make it more rustic to fit in with the style of our house. My husband and I at some point would like to build a coffee table for the living room but this one is perfect for the space we are in right now. I wish I had pictures of how the table looked when I first got it!
I first removed the hardware and then sanded the table down getting all of the stain off that I put on the first time! I used 80 grit sand paper for this part and a small hand sander.
Next was 2 coats of Valspar white latex paint. Then I used 220 grit sand paper to distress it down. Last step was to put the hardware back on. I really love the hardware, it really adds the finishing touch to this table.
I love the way it looks in our family room! Bella and Grace also couldn’t resist this photo opportunity. Hope ya’ll are having a great day!
