My days off usually involve a great cup of coffee, scripture, and creating something. I always have a project to be worked on but sometimes I like to go to a new nearby town to explore. I decided on Fuquay Varina, NC. I have been a handful of times but never to really get to know the town. Plus there was a brand new coffee shop I had been eager to try and plenty of neat thrift and antique shops. I started off by going to Cultivate Coffee Roasters to grab an iced mocha, read and plan. I absolutely loved this place and can’t recommend it enough. It was a super cool atmosphere and the coffee was hard to beat. They also have a variety of baked goods, pastries and homemade ice cream.
After a couple of hours I headed around the corner to KnB Marketplace. This is an awesome store that has around 40 different vendors that each have a little piece of the store to sell their products. This store was full of antiques, wooden signs and restored furniture among other things. They even had a small coffee shop inside although I had already had my fill from Cultivate. I was definitely inspired from this shop and it gave me a ton of new ideas for upcoming projects.
I walked around town a little bit longer checking out a variety of other shops before deciding to check out a few thrift stores a little bit outside of downtown. My trip to Fuquay was definitely fun. I enjoyed the quiet downtown and there were some really great restaurants I would love to visit with Cam or friends. I love getting outside of my everyday normal to explore, get inspired, pray and dream. Even on our weekends free together Cam and I love to find nearby garage sales, go to the flea market, work on projects or go for a hike. What is your favorite way to spend a free day?
