In case you missed my last post (When in Philly – Pt. 1) I went through day 1 and 2 of our trip to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. So if you haven’t checked out that post go ahead and click here.
Day 3
We decided we wanted to venture out of the city and go to a town outside of Philadelphia. We did some searches and found New Hope, Pennsylvania. Looked like a neat town about an hour away. We first drove into Lambertville, NJ to get some coffee from Lambertville Trading Company. This was a really great cash only coffee shop. Cam and I split a Roca Mocha and a carrot cake muffin. This drink was so good. It was a mix of espresso, hot chocolate and buttered toffee syrup.
We walked around Lambertville a little bit before crossing over the River to New Hope and we got a couple of pictures on the PA/NJ state line.
New Hope is a town full of cute shops and good restaurants. We made our way down the South Main Street where the majority of the shops are. We also came across Ferry Market which was an awesome place to get some food. They had about 12 different vendors within the market. We ended up splitting a bento box from Ms. Fu’s Yummy Bento Box. Everything was really good. After lunch we continued walking through town. Overall we really enjoyed New Hope and Lambertville.
On our way back to Philly we stopped at Peddler Village in New Hope, which is a colonial style village full of shops, restaurants, bakeries and breweries. Definitely worth a look if your in the area. They also have a great bakery (The Lucky Cupcake Company’s Village Bakery) with a huge variety of sweet treats!
We made our way back to Philadelphia and rested at the hotel for a little bit. We decided to stay close to the hotel to watch the late NFL game. We went to Fridays for a late dinner and drinks.
Day 4
This was our last day in Philly so we knew we had a long day ahead and A LOT of walking. We started the morning getting dropped off at Sabrina’s Cafe for breakfast. Cam and I split the Stuffed Challah French Toast which is one of there signature dishes. It did not disappoint! A must if your in the area.
After breakfast we headed down to Logan Square to check out Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul which is the largest catholic church in Philadelphia. Really beautiful church.
After staying awhile in the church we decided to make the walk into Old City Philadelphia to go to Menagerie Coffee. When we decided to go to Philadelphia this was the number one coffee shop I wanted to go to. We loved this place, the iced mochas were fantastic and the atmosphere was great.
Our next stop was to Independence Hall for a tour. We had heard from a couple different people that this was a must do tour. And it’s FREE! Independence Hall is full of so much history and is where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were signed.
After our tour we headed to Reading Market for our second time! We loved this market so much the first time and there were so many food options we knew we had to go again. We decided to try Hunger Burger. Cam and I both got a fried chicken sandwich and split a side of Lobster Mac ‘N’ Cheese. Great food!!
After lunch we stopped by Logan Square to look at the fountain. We really loved this part of the city. Logan Square is also the beginning of Benjamin Franklin Parkway which ends at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This area of the city is beautiful and the steps leading up to the art museum are most known for the step scene in Rocky.
We also got some shots with Rocky.
We then walked down behind the art museum and along the river to Boathouse Row. Rowing is huge in Philadelphia and there are always college teams rowing along the Schuykill River. We ended up walking a couple of miles along the river before it started to get dark.
We had an absolute blast and really enjoyed Philadelphia and New Hope. We had planned on stopping in Richmond, VA on the way back home. However, a traffic jam had us delayed for about 2 hours so we are saving that trip for another day!
